Run, Hide, Fight Movie Review

Last night I watched a movie called Run, Hide, Fight. There was a live stream on The Daily Wire showcasing their newly produced film. Who would have thought that The Daily Wire would become movie producers?

This film is by no means an original story, it’s been done in the past by films like Gus Van Sant’s Elephant, or Scott Calverts The Basketball Diaries, another recent one was Matt Johnsons The Dirties. How Kyle Rankin executed the film Run, Hide, Fight made it original. Rotten Tomatoes has given this film a measly 22%, which I feel to be a very low score for such a gut-wrenching emotional ride full of twists and turns, some you know are coming but others came right out of the left field. Isabelle May played the MC in this film (Zoe Hull), She comes from an army family with a background in hunting.

The beginning of the film shows her being taught how to kill a deer in the wild using a rifle, and what to do with it when it doesn’t die right away. Like every other “school shooting film” there are ruthless kids trying to coupe the school. Unlike the others, this one takes place in the current day with cell phones and live-streaming, and the pack of terrorists includes a woman who is a sister of one of the ruthless bastards. The MC and her crush get separated by the MC going to the washroom during lunch and leaving her crush behind. While she’s in the bathroom she can hear what’s unfolding in the cafeteria, so she tries to escape. When she finds an escape out of the school she has a second thought and decided to go back into the school to save all the innocent classmates. Her father once told her, when she’s in trouble, Run, Hide, Fight. She went back to save the school and use the skills her father taught her. Meanwhile, the terrorists’ goals are to try and get as many ruthless views and exposure on live tv as possible making them famous.

Seeing the MC come back and get revenge was enough to keep me watching this film. The storyline turned to this pretty quickly and you just get to watch the savage beast unfold on the terrorizers one at a time. I won’t spoil the ending. But this film deserves a solid 95% rating on Rotten. The fact that the filmmakers couldn’t find funding for this film from big producers is beyond me. They had to struggle to find their own funding through Kickstarter like campaigns, I’m very glad they found the funding although it seems “Ben Shapiro” was involved. I mean where’s ever you can get the money. It’s not easy to find funding for a film from the get-go, so I praise them for not giving up and getting a solid cast, crew, and budget for their film.

I recommend this film to anyone that loves a good edge of your seat thriller that puts you into reality instead of taking you out of reality. This is a trigger warning of film, as this is something very real in the world and many people have unfortunately had to experience this first hand.

This triggered something relatable for me.
I remember in 2006 there was a Halloween suicide pack that was scheduled to go down at every school in my hometown. They were going to go to each school murder as many people as possible and then commit suicide in the cafeteria. When this didn’t happen due to too many people finding out, they decided they were going to walk around the streets during Halloween and murder people and meet up at one place and murder each other.

Don’t get me wrong there were definitely more inspirations than the ones I listed above. for more school shooting films that more than likely inspired this film you can check the list below.

If… (1968)
Blackbird (2012)
Home Room (2002)
The Only Way (2004)
The Class (2007)
Bowling For Columbine doc (2002)

I hope you enjoyed my review below is the trailer.
